Thank god couz Jacqueline was there.

Couldn't have done this much without her around!!

Since Couz Jacqueline was our London Tour Guide.

All we had to do was to just follow blindly.

I am not ashamed to say that I am an autocrat when it comes to the children's diet.

Candies, Chocolate & Ice Creams

are considered bonuses rather than daily rights of individual!

The only type of candies that are deem acceptable are Vitamin Gummies.

Nothing more,

Nothing less.

So,

This is definitely a rare treat for the kids

Apart for Disneyland,

I think this would be the 2nd happiest place in the world!

Even the Gloomiest weather in London could brighten up

from all the colorful and cheerful M&M character displays.

There was all these huge cylinders filled with M&M's in a multitude of color.

Absolutely Amazing!

Both kids were overjoyed with their pack of M&Ms

with the London Guard M&Ms Dispenser.

Now that we have 2 happy kids,

it is time to see the rest of London!!

Next stop,

London Eye.

Did you see that empty capsule on the London Eye?!?!?

Apparently, according to Couz Jacqueline,

it dropped off!

Yikes!

Would be pretty scary to go on a ride like that!

However,

a bit of probing around the internet proves otherwise.

They are actually revamping and renovating

the London Eye one Pod at a time!!!

Phew!

The ride is still safe!

The kids instantly hit off like lost lost friends

while the adults catch up

over dinner.

We've outdone ourselves again by planning another last minute trip.

It was so last minute that

we only bought our tickets and booked hotel accommodation

24hrs prior to the flight!

Honestly, I don't know how we did it at all!

This is the first time I am flying solo with 2 kids on a long haul flight.

I was having the jitters.

But, thankfully,

by the grace of God,

we breezed through the 12 hour flight!

London Heathrow Airport Tube Station
£8 for a full day travel pass
Children under the age of 10 travels for FREE!

Travelling on the tube was fuss free.
Took the Piccadilly line
straight from the airport to Knightsbridge
where our hotel was situated.
Please be forewarned!
Most of the subways in London are poisoned with endless flight of stairs.

We were smacked right in between Hyde Park & Harrods.
I must stress,
It is a damn ATAS (upmarket) Area!
Big Brand Names line the streets all the way to our hotel entrance!
( I was obviously not expecting this!)

who was in London for a student exchange program.

Then it is off to Hyde Park for Christmas Wonderland.
Reminded me very much of Christmas Market in Germany.
The only difference was we were boozing beers and having frankfurters in Germany
But whereas for now,
Parenthood has changed our Priorities,
we were riding on silly kiddy rides instead!

As you can clearly tell,
the kids were having a great time
while my pockets burn in pain!
(Those rides don't come cheap I swear!)

I would pat myself on the back.
It was an Awesome First Day in a Foreign Land Alone with 2 kids!

We were never conventional parents.

And we believe all work and no play

makes Hiroshi/Sophia a dull boy/girl.

So therefore,

we've decided to sign them up

for something totally non academic this school holidays.

Impact Models Studio Polka Dots Christmas Little Fashion Party 2011

Awesome staffs greeted the kids at the door.

The venue was perfectly staged for the theme.

You could just feel the excitement in the air!!

I want to be a kid all over again!!

The beauty of the whole party is

you get to drop your kids off

at 10 am and only pick them up by 5pm.

*grin*

Many parents out there would be thankful for that!

There wasn't any spare time for breather for either the kids or staff at the agency.

Those precious couple of hours were packed with activities.

Not only did the kids churn out beautiful Christmas Crafts,

they were also taught basic modelling.

Just like Cinderella's fairy godmother,

The staff at the agency turned those kids really gorgeous

with appropriate makeup, hairdo & styling!

They even had the time to pose for their individual portfolio shoots

and rehearse for the grand finale.

Parents were invited back to the studio at 5pm.

Where the staff at the agency proudly presents the fruits of their labor for the day.

A fashion show by none other than our kids.

I swear,

it is the BEST fashion show ever!

Celebrating Hiroshi's 6th Birthday at EcoKidd Punggol (24th ave)

It is amazing how much influence these birds have on kids!

A friend told me that every other birthday party she goes to
has an angry bird theme,

and the phenomenon is growing!

And of course Hiroshi wants one too!

An online baker quoted me $12/cupcake for 50 pcs!!!

That's like a whooping $600 bucks just for cakes alone!

What an Extortion!

Well, that leaves me with no choice

but to roll up my sleeves

and do all the grease work on my own.

That's my mantra in life.

( I believe that you can do anything if you put your heart & "google" into it!)

Pokémon Christmas At City Square Mall 2011

Well, it's the time of the year again!

where parents scout shopping malls

for their kiddy's favorite cartoon character's special appearance.

And if your little pumpkin adores Pokémons,

you're in luck!

City Square Mall is housing those adorable Pokémons.

Other than the perfect opportunity to meet their favorite characters,

they will also be educated about the importance of energy efficiency.

Isn't that what we call,

killing 2 "pokémons" with 1 stone?!?!?!?

1) The Pokémon Eco-Christmas Show and Photo-Taking Session

To take a picture with the Pokémon characters, shoppers can redeem a photo-taking pass with $30 spent in a maximum of 3 combined same-day receipts at the Customer Service Counter on Level 2 one hour before each show. In this season of giving, City Square Mall will be handing out complimentary Pikachu headbands to the first 2,000 children present for the show, while stocks last.

2) Pokémon Eco Pen Holder Workshop

3) Pokémon Nintendo DS Challenge

Participants will challenge Pokémon Trainers to a game of Pokémon with their Nintendo DS. The participants will start with the first level and progress to the next level upon winning a game. Winners of all four levels will be invited to participate in the Pokémon NDS Winners Cup Tournament while those who have lost the game may re-challenge the Pokémon Trainers.

Date: 19 November – 4 December (Saturday & Sunday only)

Time: 12pm – 2pm / 3pm – 5pm / 6pm – 8pm

4) Pokémon NDS Winners Cup Tournament

Participants who have cleared all four levels of the Pokémon Nintendo DS Challenge will be invited to take part in this tournament using their own Nintendo DS. They will be matched up against each other and play in several Swiss Matches. Top 3 winners will each walk away with a Nintendo 3DS Pokémon Rumble Blast Video Game. For the first prize winner, there will be a Winners Cup Trophy presented while the second and third prize winners will each receive a medal respectively.

5. Pokémon TCG Workshop

6. Pokémon TCG City Championship

Horizon Primary School Orientation

Reality is finally sinking in.

Hiroshi is attending Primary One next year.
And it really doesn't matter if we liked it or not,
we just have to follow the rest of the herd,
being thrown into the game of life.

It's been a long time since I was told to sit orderly in a school hall.

14 years to be exact!

What a nostalgic feeling!

We were briefed by the principle; Mrs Ang,
while the kids head into class with their teachers in charge.

Hiroshi is in P1 Inventor.
I kinda like the orientation teacher in charge; Mrs Yu.
Keeping my finger crossed
that she will be taking Hiroshi's class when school reopens.

It was comforting to know that the school is adopting all 7 habits from
"7 habits of highly effective people".
The school's philosophy, values, mission & vision
are also very much in line with our style of parenting.

We honestly can't wait for school to reopen in January!!!

Hiroshi all excited about embarking a new phrase of his life;
Being treated like a BIG boy!

Oh Gawd!
I see so much of myself in him.
Still smiling for cheeks to cheeks at the school's pond.

Sibling Rivalry....

It's hard for me to understand anything about Sibling Rivalry.

I never had the chance of experiencing it myself.

I have a younger sister who is 6 years my junior.

I honestly adore her!

She was the playmate I secretly begged my parents into having.

Although our interest were poles apart,

and she DID break the neck of my favorite barbie doll,

I still love her.

I do not remember ever fighting over anything.

In fact, I think we even worked in cahoot,

to avoid punishment from our parents.

The one in white dress is my niece; Daphne,

I am the one in red,

and my sister Ivy is the one in black.

Between Isaac and Sophia, it is almost like a love-hate relationship.

And I have to admit, sometimes, it drives me MAD.

One minute, you hear playful laughter drifting from across the room,

and the next moment you'll hear an emotional Sophia screaming,
"I'll tell mummy about you!"

I am really at ends wits about settling differences between them.

Nowadays, I just tell them to work it out themselves.

(If you have better solutions, please tell me about it!!!)

Macau No More

I swear my family thrives on impromptu decisions.

The gush of adrenaline rush somehow makes us feel real good.

We were all battling between
大嶼山(Lantau Island)
or
Macau.

The kids made the final decisions
when daddy asked if they would like to take a cable car or ferry.
The vote was unanimous!
Both kids chanted "FERRY"

I can't tell you how excited I am!

I've always thought highly of Macau as the Oriental Las Vegas.

Our ride was Pretty Cool!

our 1st disappointment came when we realized that there wasn't any show
happening on that particular day!!!

Without much of a choice,
we've decided to tour the city
own time own target.

We took the FREE transportation to Wynn Hotel
(As you can clearly see,
the kids are just HAPPY to be on land!
Since the ferry ride was 1hr long!!!)

We went searching for Macau's BEST Portugal Egg Tarts.

As you can clearly tell by this picture,
we were not in luck!
They are closed on Wednesdays!!!

We ended up indulging ourselves silly with desserts at a local dessert joint

Since we cannot get the BEST,
We have to just settle for SECOND BEST!

I swear this was the only thing that saved the extremely boring trip!
Fluffy Crust coupled with Warm Egg Custard.
NO MORE EGG TARTS from KFC!!!
Nothing beats the real thing now!

I shall end this posting in this good note.
The rest that happened in Macau is just not worth talking about.

Verdict: will NEVER visit again!
(But to those visiting.....
Can you please get me some egg tarts form Margaret's cafe?
Dead curious to find out how they taste like....
Since they are suppose to be the BEST!!)

(Hong Kong Disneyland) Where the Magic Begins.......

I remembered writing a slightly longer than the usual posting

to redress the injustice

regarding HongKong Disneyland's reputation about a year ago.

As of today,

I totally regretted penning down such an excellent review for the park.

It is only now that I truly encountered the real colors of it.

And, it is definitely not a pretty one!

Hong Kong Disneyland still has its' magical charm as a theme park.

But, the heavy bulk of mainland Chinese park patrons
made it awfully hard to enjoy the park!
(I now understand why Chinese
(or in the matter of fact, yellow skins)
are shun all over the world!)

I do not understand how can these chinese kids be so bloody ill mannered?!?!?
Pushing and Shoving
and not being able to stand patiently in Qs.

Is the Chinese "one kid only" policy causing parents to over pampering their kids

and giving in to all their horrible nonsense behaviors?

We are not ashamed to declare that we are super duper strict parents.

Proper behaviors and good manners are the only thing we demand of a child.

What a Sight!

EcoKidd Graduation & Musical Concert 2011

You can't deny how time flies when you have kids!

(I could literately feel wrinkles and grey hair creeping out while I type!)

Hiroshi was 18mths old when we enrolled him into playschool.

But today,

he is finally graduating into primary school!

Another Huge Milestone!

I still stand in disbelieve that my baby is already 6 this year!!!

I know this is going to sound really silly,
but, Kitson & Myself were very much close to tears
when we saw him collecting his graduation certificate.

Hiroshi looked PERFECT in his Graduation Gown and Hat!

We couldn't help, but, agree that

"YES! Our baby has grown up
and he's embarking on the next chapter of his life....."

Compulsory Formal Education

This is the 1st year Kitson & myself had the opportunity of

fully enjoying the concert since both kids are performing at the same time.....

Sophia danced to the tune of "lilipop",
since their theme was Hansel and Gretel.
(You could hardly spot her, since she is in the middle of nowhere!)

Hiroshi & his friends

Hiroshi was the shoemaker in Elves and the Shoemaker.
(I bet you can't recognize him under those disguise!)

Since our kids surprised us by putting on an excellent dance performance at the

EcoKidd Graduation & Musical Concert 2011.

We ended up surprising them
with a trip to Hong Kong immediately after the concert!

A.W.E.S.O.M.E

The kids were Thrilled!!!

We were greeted with strange stares at the airport!

(Since the kids were still in their concert costumes and heavy make up....)

But, honestly,

who the hell cares!!!

Looking at the kids' surprise faces and happy smiles made our day!

We were goofing around in the galley!

I think both my kids are top notch safety officers.

Hiroshi reads through the safety information card.

And could clearly verbalize what to do in case of an emergency

and which exits to take!!!

Sophia on the other hand,

makes sure her seat belts are securely fasten at all times

when the seat belt sign comes on.....

Too much excitement for a day.

Sleep well Sweetheart,

We are going to have a lot more FUN in the next few days!!!

Age is just a digital numeration that increases year after year.

There is nothing you can do about it,

but embrace it positively.

I have just turned

30 + 1

I am just amazed how much life has changed for me in the past 8 years.

I believe everything has it's time and place.

A quick thought of making a bucket list came by my mind,
but as quickly as it came,
it went off instantaneously.

Being 30 + 1 shouldn't be taken as being ~~almost~~ at the end,
but instead,
beginning for better things to come!

I am looking forward to fulfill everything planted on my vision board.

I've been craving for oysters,
but never found a good enough occasion to indulge in them.

Since it was my birthday,
it was a good enough excuse to load up on the cholesterol!

We hung out at Pariss Buffet and Banquet Restaurant at Marina Square.
At $37.80nett per person,
it was nothing but sheer disappointment!

Gone were the days where oysters were free flowing.
Now with the ridiculous policy of
1 piece of oyster per customer per order
is driving me NUTs!
And I swear,
the oysters takes forever to arrive!
Who on earth orders ONE oyster at a time?
Don't we usually do either 1/2 a dozen or 1 dozen in one seating?!?!?!?!?

Their excuse stated on the menu says
"In order to ensure that our oyster are consumed at its' freshest,
orders are limited to ONE at a time,"

Honestly, Give me 1/2 a dozen,
it will be consumed immediately
and I assure you it will still be at it's freshest!

We decided to give our feedback to the restaurant manager,
She didn't seems to be interested in our feedback at all.
All she did was defended the company by saying some tables would over order
and the kitchen will not be able to open the oysters as quickly
to satisfy the demand.
I understand that,
but surely,
one per customer is ridiculous!
Perhaps 1/2 a dozen per order per table sounds more like a reasonable limitation!

To our surprise,
our feedback was indeed taken into consideration.
The operation manager Mr Wong came by and talked to us
and even offered us more oysters.
It was a nice gesture,
but I guess we both had our fill of the other buffet items
other than oysters
so we polietly declined the offer.

We were given feedback forms to fill out,
We've written our piece of mind....
Let's just hope that the company would revise its' silly policy.

Even though the service is acceptable,
and the service recovery done by Mr Wong was meticulous....
I will NOT be a returning customer unless they change that policy!

We are truly living in a digital age.

Every kids I know could operate the iphone or the ipad effectively,

without much supervision.

We were somehow skeptical about giving our our kids such state of the art gadget.

I've personally witness how disconnected kids can be

when they are addicted to devices like that.

Thank you for hearing a desperate mother's plead.

I swear this IS the BEST news for the week!

Hiroshi has found himself a school
and no stressful balloting is required!

Like in my earlier posting,
I said that the number of applicants exceeded the number of seats available
by 3 applicants.
85 applicants vs 82 seats.
So I expected the school to proceed on with balloting.
But however, then number of pupils
staying within 1km or between 1-2km is 准准 82.
So the rest that are outside 2km is rejected.

I am sure Hiroshi would be equally as excited

to know that he has gotten into Horizon Primary School,

since several of his best buddies would also be attending the same school.

Learning Thru Fun.....

I used to tear my hair apart when teaching Hiroshi spelling.

I am sure many other parents are equally flabbergast,

since we are not professional educators.

I've just realised that learning thru play is the best way to learn.

Conventional write and write and write doesn't seems to get into him.

When we play little word games like the one shown in the video,

he seems to be able to grasp the word instantly.

He has his spelling test to proof his results.

I am glad to say that I no longer have to scream at Hiroshi to get his spelling done.

He would gladly come to me since spelling time is also game time!

We are finally looking forward to our next spelling test!

Well, we've reached another milestone in Hiroshi's life!

Primary One Registration.

The start of formal education for many many long years to come.

For those who are still oblivious,

I HATE

Singapore's Primary One Registration System.

I know I've shared this on facebook before,

but I am just going to vent my anger here just one more time!

There are many "phrase" to register your child.

Phrase 1: child who has sibling studying in school of choice

Phrase 2A(1): (a) for child Whose parents is a former student of school and who has joined the alumni association as a member not later than 30 June 2010
(b) child whose parent is a staff member for the school of choice

Phrase 2A(2): (a) child who's parent or siblings has studied in school of choice

‎(b) child whose parent is a staff member of school of choice

Phrase 2B: (a) child who's parent has joined the school as parent volunteer not later than 1July 2010 and has given 40 hours of voluntary services to the school by 30 June 2011
(b) child whose parents is a member endorsed by the church/clan directly connected with the school
(c) child whose parent is endorsed as an active community leader

Phrase 2C: child who is ineligible or unsuccessful in earlier phrases
(WE ARE IN THIS PHRASE!!!!

Felt like picking leftover vegetables in the late afternoon market!)

Phrase 2C Supplementary: child who fails to get place in school of choice for phrase 2C

Phrase 3: For children who are not singapore citizen pr singapore PRs

And since I choose to register online,

I don't have any juicy pictures to share here.

Till date,

the school I registered Hiroshi for has

Some parents take a no tv stance to their parenting approach.
I personally feel that tv is not the biggest evil.

I proudly declare that my kids watch selected tv programs.

And Disney is definitely one of those programs my kids have watched since young.

We cycled all the way from Punggol Promenade

to Lorong Halus Wet Land

and eventually ended up at Pasir Ris Farmway!

We came across interesting Fish Farms...
It was definately my first time seeing such a BIG fish ALIVE,
that pretty much explains all my "suaku" screaming in this video!

Looking at this video reminds me of my own childhood
and also beautiful memories of my dad....

Serangoon NEX; KidzPlay, Water Play Park

This is certainly not the first time we've been to NEX,

but it is the first time I am blogging about it.....

I've got a love, hate relationship with this place!

I simply love the rooftop.

"Located on the rooftop of nex is SkyGarden,

a fun-filled family hub incorporating a dog park and KidzPlay,

a children's playground with dry and wet interactive play equipment.

(Mainly WET really...)

K9 Park is Singapore's first ever dog park to be integrated within a mall."

Great place for doggy and kids to have good fun...

However, the down side is there is not enough shaded benches....

It really beats me how designers would make something

so aesthetically pleasing to the eyes

but sucks donkey balls on practicality.

It offers little shade to the harsh sun.

And if the wind decides to blows in the wrong direction,

be prepared to get a lil wet.

(Bring Your Own Umbrella! And make that a BIG one too!

Otherwise change into Bikini apply tanning lotion. Great place to tan!

I guess that is the best advice I can offer as of now.....)

The washrooms are also miles away from KidzPlay.

I have a strong feeling that the designers who worked on this project

does not have kids.

EPIC FAIL in DESIGN!

However, when I see the kids playing, laughing and screaming in joy,

I quickly forget about the surrounding harsh conditions....

It was really worth tanning for 2 hours when I see them having so much fun!

(Mental note to self:

Next time round remember to bring

Bikini, tanning lotion, beach chair, and a glass of yummy martini!)

As usual, Hiroshi is the more active one.

Running around, exploring and fast making new friends!

How could you not have sat around like an idiot
when you see that smile on his face?!?!?

And there was of course Sophia who prefers to stay dry.
Enjoying the finer things in life,
and tanning with mummy dear....

I swear we were 2 notch darker!
Great place to hang out,
just make sure you bring those
kick ass HUGE BEACH UMBRELLAS!

How to Survive in a Single Income Family living in Singapore.....

Honestly,

It's easier than you think it is.

But, like any other changes in life,

the 1st step is always the most difficult.

As long as you take the first stride and keep the faith,

all things are possible.

1. Make the decision as a Husband & Wife

2. Decides who stays and who brings home the bacon

Both roles are equally as demanding,

so please do not ever think that one

or the other party is having the easier role!

(I would suggest setting ego aside for this task.)

3. Sit down and draft out your monthly expenses.

Cut away luxury items & only spend wisely

4. NO maids.

(I really do not understand why people still need helper

when they are FULL TIME Stay At Home Mum or Dad!)

5. Get passive income.

(a) stay in a big big house? rent out a room or 2

(b) Set up internet businesses

(which I really would not suggest doing until you really know what you're doing)

6. Stick to the plan and Revise accordingly.

We did it.

I am sure you can too.

It's just a matter of stepping out of your comfort zone.

Are you willing to do that for your kids?

Just some food for thoughts.

A fair bit has happened in the last couple of months,

Sometimes, I am ashamed to say how much we doubt our kids.....
how much we constantly "test" them to gauge how well they learn.

Maybe, we should really have a little more faith in them....
We've always thought that Sophia was able to read her pre-primer cards
because she has simply memorized the sequence of the cards.....

We've decided to play a Jumble Word Game with her to find out
if she really was able to pick out the right words.....
And much to our surprise,
She was able to do it....
Not 1, not 2,
BUT all 15 words in the deck!
I am super amazed!

when it came to the matters of parenting.

Honestly, I secretly detest Rapunzel!

How could someone with such long flowing hair has no hair loss problem

while I battle mine throughout teens and even up to date!

My hair loss problem started during my teens.

Where hair started falling out in large clumps.....

We consulted the doctors at the nearby polyclinic

and they conveniently blamed it on STRESS.

The only thing they did was prescribed a mild shampoo...

And trust me!

receding hair line came into the picture!

(I'm the one on the left.)

Our seniors has a perfect theory for their hair lost problem.

They blamed it on the "flying so high at 35,000ft,

then hair pores open big big,

shower immediately after reaching station...

so hair loss problem....."

Seriously, don't know how much of these is true.

My personal theory,

long hours of stressed up hair tied into a TIGHT BUN,

(so tight that my eyes can go -_-)

could be the main reason of hair loss and receding hair line!

People tell me that motherhood changes everything.

You'll be expected to look radiant, have lovely skin, hair and nails.

Don't get me mistaken,

I LOVE motherhood...

But, I just HATE the hair loss!

(and the fine limpy uncontrollable hair!!!)

It has gotten so bad to a point that my husband's recommendation to hair loss

was to wear a plastic bag/ shower cap over my head,

so that I will not mess up the freshly vacuumed floors!

Having our hair shaved for the Children Cancer Foundation has to be the best deal ever!

We not only get to create awareness for this group of fighting warriors,

I've curb my hair loss problem...

since there are no more to loose!

Oh well,

now jokes aside,

I seriously hope that Svenson’s Hair Care will be able to solve all my hair loss problem.

And winning that Ipad would be a HUGE BONUS!!!

And since age is catching up,

I think we've over stretched ourselves!

I cringe at the idea of OVER PAYING for a piece of photograph

We totally ENJOYED Hongkong Disneyland.
In fact, we love it so much that
I am writing a slightly longer post to redress an injustice

regarding the reputation of HongKong Disneyland.....

Myth No. 1

Child kidnapping/ Mainland Chinese trying to sell you their kid...
*I can put my head on the line for this one!
No one tried to kidnap my kids (maybe they ain't cute enoff),
nor did anyone try to sell me their kids!*
It was a safe environment for your kids to fun free!

Myth No. 2

The park is too small!
We had 2 fast pass(for Golden Mickey & Lion King),
ran from one ride to the other,
used our time damn efficiently
and yet, we could not even complete on all the rides in the park!

Myth No. 3

Park is crowded with Mainland Chinese lying & sitting around
with their infamous spitting habits!
I have to agree that there were many Mainland Chinese,
but they were just visiting the park like any other tourist, like you and me...
I haven't seen any trying to spit on the floor.
Thou, one has SNEEZE OPENLY without covering this nose and mouth!

Family Vacation (Singapore-HongKong)

When we plan this trip about a month,

we as ~~FULL GROWN ADULTS~~ parents

were actually more excited than the kids....

We had many ideas brewing in our mind

thinking of the best possible way to surprise our kids.

The kids had absolutely no idea about the trip

until reaching Singapore immigration!

Kids went to school as per normal

and we kidnapped them 1/2 way thru classes

citing the reason of sending daddy to the airport

since he is going on a long flight.....

The kids never did suspect anything amiss,

despite the fact that daddy was travelling

with so much more baggage than the norm!

when we came to the immigration gates,

saying our last good byes and big bear hugs.....

Kitson: would you like to take the airplane with daddy?

Both kids jumping with joy: YESSSSssssSSSSssssSSSS!!!!

Kitson: Do you have passport and tickets?

Both kids shaking their heads in disappointment: *mumbled* no...

Me: *producing both passports and boarding passes*

I swear I cannot forget the big wide smiles on their faces!

and the next in HongKong.....

Who would have thought?!?!?!?!?

A couple of days ago while I was about to do my laundry,

a mouse pop right out of my washing machine!

I swear that was the closest encounter to a mouse

in my whole 30 years of life....

So naturally,

I screamed for dear life,

ran into the room

and hid for the entire night!

I combed Singapore in search of a rat trap.

I would have to say it wasn't easy finding one.

Maybe Singapore is so bloody clean

that no one else has a rat problem except me!

But, then again...

WHY ME?!?!?!?!?

Finally found it at the hardware shop

at Compassvale Shopping Center.

I had my first hand experience of setting up a mouse trap!

I waited patiently...

Peeping at the trap more than occasionally...

But, after 2 days,

STILL NO RAT!

When Kitson came home from flight,

I was more delighted than ever!

I could finally pass on the baton of my rat problem

to someone more "experience"!!

Or well, at least I have another full grown adult

to forge my battle against that nasty pest!

This is coming from the rat expert.

One that has kept rats for the sole purpose of biology lab test!

As he enters the storeroom his nose twitches....

I SMELL A RAT he said....

Kitson repositioned the rat trap and sealed off all exits!

And within an hour,

we've got our rat!

Now that the rat is in it's rightful place and not sharing my kitchen,

He's kinda CUTE hor!

Hopefully that will put an end to my rat woes....

Now that "nothing" else is sharing my kitchen,

it's back to cooking and baking a storm!

We got our kids the best gift this Children's Day!

We got them flu vaccinated!

The flu vaccine 2010/2011

protects against influenza A, influenza B and even H1N1....

And since this is their first flu vaccination,

2 doses of vaccine is needed.

The next dose will be taken a month from now....

I am glad we did it!

Our wish for our kids

and for all kids around the world

would be for them

to be healthy and happy!

Brought the kids to the nearby playground

and we had a bubbly good time!

*sprinkle fairy dust by fairy godmother*

Truly Upset with ICA STUPID System!

I've never been REALLY REALLY upset

with Singapore Government System until today!

This is simply doesn't make any good sense to me!

This is how you treat your citizens!

No wonder your citizens are migrating out of Singapore

at every given opportunity,

and all the so call foreign talents

whom couldn't even understand a word of english

are flocking into Singapore!

Sophia's passport was made on 14Jan'08

and it's ONLY expiring on 14Jan'13

Since we are planning to travel,

I've decided to take the kids a day off school

to get their passports all sorted out....

Which also means updating Sophia's baby-ish photo...

I've done this before for Hiroshi's passport,

so therefore,

I knew that this can be done

at the "amendments/modifications" page....

Unfortunately, upon arrival at the ICA at Lavender,

I was told that photo updates are no longer done.

And if I should need a photo update,

I'll have to fork out S$70 bucks to get a brand new passport!

I highlighted that the passport will not be expiring until 2013,

that's 3 good years from now!

And I was wondering if there was like some kind of rebate!

(eg. S$70 for a new passport that will last 5 years,

so S$70 / 5 = S$14 per year

Let's say if I have 3 more years to date of expiry,

then I should be paying S$14 * 3 = S$42)

I was flatly rejected

and told that I would have to make a brand new one at S$70 bucks!

Oh common!

I understand that because of safety and security issues

you do not allow photo updates on the existing passport....

But at least give us a GOD DAMN rebate!

I feel so bloody CHEATED!

Hiroshi has been nicknamed

after the korean heart throb singer "Rain"

ever since he was a little boy.....

The ladies that worked at the neighbourhood chinese medical shop

gave him that nickname coz they thought he fitted the bill.

I doubt they ever knew his real name.

Somehow,

Jerlin & Jerold's Wedding

This is seriously like a fairy tale come true!

We've always thought that Jerlin and Jerold

would make the finest couple

during our training days in SIA.....

And when they dated,

we looked forward to receiving their wedding invitation card

year after year!

And finally.....

After 7 years of dating,

they are bravely taking the walk down the aisle

to be pronounced husband and wife....

Jerlin; the gorgeous looking bride & myself!

It was also the opportunity to catch up with batch mates...

Time really flies!

They are going to be getting their 2nd gratuity soon!

That's almost 10 years of flying!!!

we had the privilege of staying in a prestigious hotel in singapore;

The Swissotel Stamford Singapore!

High flooring somemore leh!!!

DAMN SHIOK!

1st destination,

Sophia was overjoyed!

Since we did not had to rush home or catch the last train,

we took the opportunity to visit some places of interest....

Our starting point:

The Helix Bridge & Marina Bay Sands

I honestly admit the my personal inbuilt GPS system is terrible!

I didn't know that The Helix Bridge

is so freaking far off from the Merlion!

And since I promise Sophia that I'll bring her to the Merlion,

She made sure I didn't backed out on my promise....

Although my poor feel was blistering from the bloody long walk!

I haven't been more delighted to see the Merlion in my life!

But, Sophia was already sleeping soundly in her pram!

My best efforts of

trying to wake her up from deep slumber didn't help,

she only uttered "I want to sleep!"

My Photography Journey.....

My first encounter with a SLR

should be when I was about 5 years of age....

Vividly remember my daddy bringing me to East Coast Park

snapping pictures of me with this gem;

a Nikon F3!

But, when my dad passed away in 1993,

we didn't know what to do with it.

We simply chuck it in our closet.

By the time I grew up and learn a lil more about SLR,

I rescue it from the closet,

but it was way too late!

Damage was done.

Fungus all over!

And to get it all cleaned up would cost me a bomb.

And I didn't have the money to do it....

In 1998,

when I enrolled myself into a Graphing Designing school

I brought a camera for school;

Nikon FE10

It was a great camera,

but however it wasn't too friendly on my pockets....

Since it was a film based camera,

I had to spend money buying film and development it....

I soon gave up

since money at that point of time was a scarce commodity....

When I met Kitson,

I got him a camera;

Nikon D70

Hoping that he might be able to pick it up

and compliment me as a make up artist....

But, it didn't really gel with him.

The kids quickly came along....

And since it doesn't make sense to carry a huge diaper bag

and a BULKY camera all around town...

the camera was soon left in cold storage!

Now that the kids has grown up slightly,

with diaper bag getting smaller...

My ever doting hubby

is encouraging me to pick up

where I last left off with a Nikon D80.....

I am enjoying every moment in this journey.

A hobby rediscovered!

Your smiles makes it all worthwhile.....

I have to admit that it is STILL a very expensive hobby.

A wise man once said;

"there are no bad cameras.... only bad photographers"

So, I am shooting more often

and reading more about photography.

Hopefully someday,

I'll be able to present breath taking shots.

raving about this Peranakan Restaurant,

I must say that my mind and heart was clouded with DOUBT...

I couldn't recall how many times I was badly disappointed

from the restaurants

with so call superb raving reviews!!!

I was secretly crossing my fingers

that this would not be another one!

And thankfully,

It has performed way above my expectation!

The Dry Mee Siam and Assam Laksa is a MUST HAVE!

I seriously cannot put out in words how this dish taste like...

But, it's definitely something that I will go back for again and again!

Assam Laksa

I am a great assam laksa fan!

I simply cannot resist it when I come face to face

with this fabulous dish!

And Jonker's Nyonya Deli has nail it!

Touched my sweet spot and sooth my assam laksa cravings.....

Flavors were balanced out perfectly!

Generous mackerel flakes in Gravy!

Heavenly!!!

Kueh Pie Tee

Smaller than the ones found outside....

(perfect sizing for a lady's dainty mouth)

Somehow firmer crust....

But, I DO NOT think this is a must try!

It would be be under the category

"try if you still got space in tummy"....

This is the note that comes with every bowl of chendol ordered...

The chendol strips are homemade!!!

Chedol drizzled with generous amount of Gula Melacca

Kitson blurted, "this is F**KING good!"

the first instant he tasted this yummy desert!

(pretty rare for someone who hardly swear!)

So this is really DAMN GOOD!

It's a MUST ORDER!!!

Amazing Service as well!!!

(Btw, it's self service!)

I am able to read, write and understand....

For many who often overlook how important these skills are,

they are the very ones that kept me learning,

through my life as a Stay At Home Mum....

I love the internet as it is so bloody informative!

I can google and get all my answers in a spilt seconds.

If you ever need a clearer picture?!?!?!

Just YouTube!

I bet you can find anything and everything there!

The beauty of being a modern mum in our century

is that we are much more well informed

from what we see and what we read....

Thus,

we are able to provide more for the kids;

especially nutritious yummy home cooked meals.....

Sophia LOVE yoghurt!

(This is a strange fact,

the kids would rather take yoghurt than ice cream.....)

Hiroshi is the ever homely guy who LOVES home cooked food!

(He has now taken an interest on cooking

and would constantly request to help out in the kitchen!)

I think these are my 2 most motivating factors in my life by far!

Seriously, what more can you ask for?!?!?!?
